Dr. Kapil Dua from Ludhiana is a man who has created an impeccable reputation for himself and much of it has come from his expertise and proficiency in his field, which is hair transplantation. Not only is he the present President of the AHRS India, he also recently became the first Indian to demonstrate live surgery in the Asian Hair Transplant meeting, held in Bangkok Thailand. This time around, the theme was “Practical Aspects Of Hair Transplantation In Asians”.

At the recently concluded 5th Asian Hair Transplant Meeting, Dr. Kapil Dua took centre stage yet again, where he not only presented two scientific papers and moderated one session, but was also a panelist in two sessions and led the table at the ‘Lunch With Experts’’ session on Body Hair Transplantation. However, the highlight of the session was the demonstration of FUE hair transplant by him. By doing so, he became the first Indian to do so in the Asian Hair Transplant meeting and his dedication to perfection ensured that the surgery was appreciated by one and all. The live surgery workshops were held at the reputed Siriraj Hospital, which is not only the largest hospital in the city, but also the oldest.

Dr. Kapil Dua also took time to elaborate on how body hair transplant has now become one of the mainstays for bald people, who have undergone multiple surgeries from scalp and have not gotten the results they had been looking for. He also delivered two talks – one on “FUE in South Asians”, in which he spoke at length on how transplant methods vary when being done on South Asians, as their hair texture is often different from people of other nationalities. The second talk was on “Beard & Moustache Reconstruction”, which is fast gaining a lot of popularity and is just as precise a science as hair transplant.

Dr. Dua also moderated a session on intraoperative emergencies in hair transplant, how to handle them and how to ensure that they are taken care of in the best possible manner. He was also a panelist on two sessions, one of which was on recipient site creation and the second was on inadequate growth. While in the first session, the panelists discussed the best methods of creating the site for receiving donor hair, in the second session, it was all about the various reasons that could lead to inadequate growth, even after a hair transplant. When it came to the ‘Lunch with Experts’’ session, Dr. Kapil Dua took on the role of the table leader and the topic for discussion was body hair transplantation.

Dr. Kapil Dua is also the Board of Governor of the Asian Association of hair Transplant Surgeons as well as the only Indian to be on the board of International Society of hair Restoration Surgery. At the event, he also received the award as Faculty cum Board of Governor at the Gala Dinner, which was held by the lifeline of Bangkok, the stunning and majestic Chao Phraya River.
